-BRONIA-

Creation for Les Ballet de Montecarlo  ( Principato di Monaco)

Premiere  17 july  2025

Monaco - Salle Garnier- Opéra de Monte-Carlo

Creation for 16 soloists and principal dancers of the Ballet de Monte Carlo.

To close the 2024–2025 choreographic season, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo has invited the artistic team behind Kor’sia— Antonio de Rosa and Mattia Russo — to create a new original piece for the company.

These rising choreographers, already familiar to the Principality’s audience, continue to bring a fresh, invigorating energy to contemporary dance. With each creation, they captivate larger audiences and gain growing international recognition across prestigious European stages.

Audiences of the Monaco Dance Forum will surely remember Kor’sia for their distinctive visual language and emotionally charged work. With Bronia, the Madrid-based company once again pushes the boundaries of contemporary performance.

This new piece is a tribute to Bronislava Nijinska — known as Bronia — a pioneering figure in dance history: daughter, sister, mother, choreographer, educator, performer, writer, and revolutionary. Her life was deeply rooted in the theatre, where she continuously challenged both artistic conventions and societal norms.

In a male-dominated world, often overshadowed by her brother Vaslav Nijinsky and under the influence of Sergei Diaghilev, Nijinska carved her own path — turning the stage into a space of resistance and transformation. Her work masterfully blended abstraction with emotion and remained in dialogue with the artistic avant-garde of her time.

Though her legacy was long overlooked, her influence never truly vanished. Today, new generations of artists are rediscovering Nijinska’s vision — not only for its aesthetic richness but also for its ability to question norms and expand expressive boundaries.

With Bronia, Kor’sia  pay homage to this visionary artist in one of the very theatres she once inhabited. The piece reclaims her rebellious spirit, reaffirming the stage as a place for artistic resistance, reinvention, and renewal.
